In the early days of Duy Tan University, many staff members and outsiders usually referred to the school as a stork. Some implied the humbleness and hardships of the first private university, others meant the hardworking nature of its staff and faculty, or even more uniquely, some others referred to the legendary nickname “Little Stork” of the founder Le Cong Co, given by his comrades during the Vietnam War.

On September 15, the DTU Youth Union partnered with the Hue Regional Blood Transfusion Center at Hue Central Hospital to hold a blood drive, with the motto “Every drop of blood you give could save a life”. In 2013, DTU became the first and the only private university to be authorized to offer Ph.D. courses in Business Administration and Computer Science. DTU is now offering a Doctoral program in Accountancy to meet increasing demands in the Central Region.

Founded in early 2020, the DTU School of Computer Science offers ABET-accredited programs in Information Technology. 100% of DTU Computer Science majors are employed on graduation. DTU School of Computer Science has made some significant accomplishments. It is ranked 251-300 worldwide in the 2023 Times Higher Education Rankings (THE); and at 301-350 in the 2023 QS Rankings by Field/Industry. Passage To ASEAN Association (P2A) was founded in 2012 by a group of five ASEAN universities: Rangsit University (Thailand), Duy Tan University (Vietnam), Norton University (Cambodia), National University of Laos (Laos), and Myanmar Computer Company Training Institute, Ltd (Myanmar) decided to step up their roles as educators and to address this challenge of imminent in diverse ASEAN Community. Guided by this community's vision of peace and harmony, and driven by the core beliefs that education shapes nations, the concept of Passage to ASEAN (P2A) was born with the objective of uniting higher education institutions in ASEAN countries to advance the promotion of cultural appreciation and workforce education amongst its youth.
